As mentioned in a recent Instagram post, I am completely addicted to painted furniture. The are so many advantages to using painting furniture in your home so let’s break it down! Painted pieces are visually beautiful and make space feel balanced. If you have too many wood elements in a room and not enough variety of materials, your space won’t feel as dynamic and interesting. Painted furniture in space will prevent this from happening. Bringing in a painted piece can present the opportunity to introduce a saturated color, or if you want to create the illusion of more space, paint your furniture the same color as the wall. If you have a piece of furniture that needs elevating, painting it and changing the hardware will make an inexpensive piece look high-end and custom. If you have a nice piece of furniture that just isn’t your style, a fresh coat of paint and new hardware will completely change the look. Older furniture can often be well made but maybe not the style you prefer. Many retailers are selling expensive furniture that is built with substandard materials. You can save money by purchasing older furniture made of solid wood and up-cycling it. Lastly, painting your furniture gives you the option of customizing it in a creative way by using multiple colors or leaving the wood natural in select areas. If you don’t have time to paint your own furniture there are many companies that you can purchase from. The piece in the image above is from Good Bones Furniture Restoration and I have seen many beautiful pieces on Etsy. Links are below!
